Trimming Details

Let's see, according to my post on May 24th, I told you we ordered a new front door. In mid December it finally came in. No joke, I will not be recommending the company to you.

Now I find myself in great debate about painting the new trim the color of the door, or leaving it white.

The collage below is a good mix of painted trim vs. white trim.

Before the trim was installed I was certain I would paint it the door color, but now I am leaning towards leaving it white.

What do you think: paint it white or paint it to match the door?

(Ignore the dishes from my al fresco dining. Also, new roof, new light and eventually an address plaque coming soon.)

Door color.

The husband and I made a list of priorities for the house. Near the top of the list is a new front door. Our house exterior is gray brick, so that leaves a lot of flexibility in the color we can use. Below are some images that I love.

To color or not to color? I could easily go neutral (dark gray with great unlaquered brass hardware) or infuse a burst of color and give it some charm (with great hardware).
Cristin from Simplified Bee has a great post on door colors. Read it here.

Gardening.

My sweet mother in law is coming to visit us in a couple of weeks. She has quite the green thumb and our yard is in need of her expertise after the winter we have experienced. Lucky for me, I have an event all weekend so I get to skip the outdoor gardening {between us, I have not yet come to appreciate the work aspect of landscaping}
What I am doing is collecting some images of window boxes that I adore and would love to plant under our kitchen window.
The first is a window box I saw in Charleston last year. This is the mecca of window boxes and something I aspire to keep alive, maybe in my retirement years but not now.

This next one seems a little more "do-able"
The one plant I'd love to see added to our home is the bougainvillea. Maybe it's my South Florida roots or because my mom loves them so much, but I want this little sucker blooming on my house.

Oh yes, I might be in trouble for posting this, but here's a photo of my mother in law that last time she came to help up landscape. Di, remember that was the first day I actually liked beer? I have you to thank for that. Can't wait to see you!

I'll have some before and after photos in a few weeks.

Enjoy the weekend.

Color!

Our front door needs to be replaced in the near future and I've been thinking of different colors we could paint the new door. Our current door is ink blue and our house is a light gray brick. We love blue so we might replace it with something quite similar but I wanted to share some pretty front doors loaded with color.
What is the exterior color plan of your home/apartment/condo?

I have a problem. It's Monday and all I want to do is lay by this pool.

Have you ever seen a more beautiful design?

Organization

I have to clear my desktop. My love to consolidate and clear up my desktop has been gnawing at me so here is a cluster of pictures that do not pertain to one theme.

I am looking for a front door similar to this one, it would match our house quite well.
The care of these window boxes are impressive. Are they hardy plants? Can I do that? I'm overwhelmed looking at them.
We have no need for an outdoor shower. We are entirely too close to our neighbors, which happen to be my sister and brother-in-law. TMI, no thank you. But if we had some seclusion or lots of property this would be a gem: (I want to talk the Miami Bachelor into adding a shower head near his pool- I'll update you if it happens)

White kitchens are perfection to me- tin ceilings, windowed transom, metal pendants, pot filler, grey slate herringbone backsplash. It's all so great. Via Velvet + Linen

You can age your mirrors with acid like Kerry Howard did from these old church windows. Genius!

Kerry's white kitchen. They aren't marble countertops, but the quartz is the next best alternative.

There's a lot here I like as well. Glossy walls, boxy wainscoting, symmetry and sea grass blinds

Now I'm going to delete all of these beautiful pictures to the recycle bin. Whew!
