Introducing...Sugar Sample Sale!

Tallahassee locals, this one is for you.

Tomorrow morning {7:30am} there is a community wide garage sale at Southwood. It's not in one spot so you'll have to pick up a map to see who is participating or simply drive by homes to see who has their treasures in their yard.

I'll let you in on a secret, you should follow the signs and balloons {off Orange Ave} that will lead you to a Sugar sample sale on Coneflower Drive.

Sugar features all things vintage and handmade for kids of all ages. Enjoy looking and letting your child like spirit go wild.

My ultra talented friend, Jen, creates all of these pieces. She has a shop on etsy, go ahead click on it and buy something for that expecting mother in your life, or outfit your baby in a one-of-a-kind burp cloth. Do you have a birthday party coming up? Treat the little guests to a birthday hat.

There will be some garage sale items available as well but consider this a trunk show sale. Be among the first to sport Sugar. Hope to see you tomorrow!

100cameras.

I'm taking a break from blogging the details of this renovation. I fell asleep thinking of cabinet measurements which led me to dream of them. I do not think I ever really slept- pictures just flashed through my head all night of possible layout scenarios. I like this renovation process for the outcome but the details are endless and A not only effects B and C, but F & G- ya know what I mean?

I digress. Here is what I am looking forward to 100cameras. Tallahassee.

When I heard Nana, the founder of 100cameras- this girl, was going to be driving through Tallahassee, I thought...let's throw her a great party. Gather all the folks that love her and miss her and let's just celebrate her. Then I thought, let's not deprive the people from hearing about the exciting mission that she has successfully created through 100cameras. africa. Let's raise awareness and get people involved. The ball has been rolling through New York and now we will get it rolling in Tallahassee.
What is 100cameras? Glad you asked.

The mission of 100cameras is to place cameras into the hands of people living in adverse conditions, and utilize photography as an outlet for individuals who have been victims of social, economic and racial injustice. Our goal is to let the lens tell their story.

Last October 100cameras went to Africa to join efforts with St. Bartholomew’s orphanage in Kajo Keji, Sudan. The children were given cameras and asked them to document their everyday. They did. For one week, they used cameras to tell the details of their story- their hands and teeth and bicycles and feet. At the end of the week, cameras were collected and images were saved.
Now 100cameras has teamed up with Mint Lounge of Tallahassee. On May 11, 2009, the results from 100cameras.africa will be displayed. The event will be a night to honor the children and tell their stories. Their pictures will be exhibited and photographs sold. 100percent of proceeds from purchased prints will be given back to St. Bartholomew’s orphanage. Come see life from their photographed perspective.
100cameras will continue to serve communities by giving children the resources to share glimpses of their lives through pictures. From Africa to New York City to Tallahassee, these cameras will give children in various at-risk communities the opportunity to express the realities of their everyday through images. By utilizing the camera as a powerful tool for communication, it will allow the children’s stories to be carried across borders and across cities. 100cameras is committed to bringing their stories to you, through online print sales and exhibitions circling all proceeds back to these communities.

Here are some Tallahassee local gems I found on Craigslist. My house does not need them and Tony will not be happy with me if I bring another chair into our living room.

This camel back sofa was recently upholstered and they are only asking $325.00.

This Buffet: paint it whatever color you want- i don't think you need to alter the hardware.

This old mail box sorter could serve as a nice shoe rack- again, paint whatever your heart desires.

8:00 AM Spectators are highly welcome and encouraged all day today starting at 8:00am. If you want to get a good view and witness the famous “MOVE THAT BUS” when the family arrives and the design team welcomes them into their new home, you need to arrive early.
10:00AM Arrival time is encouraged for spectators that want to be part of "Move That Bus". Don’t forget your positive signs welcoming the family home. Please keep in mind that this day will be long periods of standing so plan accordingly.
2:00PM - 3:00PM Join thousands of supporters as Ty Pennington and the design crew welcome the family home. MEDIA AND COMMUNITY ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED! Be on-set to witness the now famous "Move That Bus" when the family see’s their new home for the first time! TIME IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

EDIT: Do you know how amazing it is that they tear down a house and build it back in 5 days! Think of all the things you do not get done in 5 days. Praise the Lord for planners.
I cannot attend the Friday event but I am pretty sure I'll be stopping by on Thursday for the move it/decorating portion- if anyone wants to join me, I'd be delighted.
