Hollywood Regency Part II.

I have been working on the Hollywood Regency styled bedroom for a client. I saved the image below because I love how the deep gray walls and the bronze play off one another.

I looked up the article in Veranda to read more about the designer, Renea Abbott, located in Houston and owner of Shabby Slips. Here's what Renea had to say about the process:

"I prefer high style with lots of drama — as high as I can afford, basically" But Abbott is careful to balance the theatrics. While the bedroom boasts an antique bronze-and-crystal chandelier and a luxurious bed in tufted mohair, the walls are painted a soothing neutral. And throughout the main living areas, Abbott moderates the glamour by deliberately underplaying the upholstery.
"It's mostly in muslin," she says. "For three years, I looked for fabric to put on the sofas and chairs, and I never found anything better than that. Anything else would look too 'done' with all the mirrors and sparkle. You need that balance of having the pure white fabric on the furniture."

I have gathered a lot of inspiration from Renea's home and cannot wait to share photos with you of my clients room...stay tuned.
