Une nouvelle découverte.

Good morning! I've just discovered a wonderful, new (to me) blog, Simple Song. This girl has such a clean, creative, organized blog. She recently posted about a site which carries unique, French finds; un esprit en plus. I love the industrial, natural, textured, organic-y feel of these items. I love those chalkboard, zinc tags. After watching Man Shops Globe and reading about Mark Sage with his intriguing objects, I am convinced I need to make it over to France for a shopping trip, so maybe I should start playing the lottery.

Man Shops Globe.

Have you ever wondered how Anthropologie gets a hold of their amazing, one-of-a-kind pieces? Now we have an answer. The Sundance Channel is taking us around the world with Anthropologie's buyer-at-large, Keith Johnson in Man Shops Globe. His show premieres Oct 7th at 10pm. Go ahead and set your DVR's and Tivo's to record this show right now, as it promises to make us jealous of his job and include his adventures on our " I hope to do this in my lifetime" list.

MAN SHOPS GLOBE
Claiming he has the "greatest job in the world," Keith Johnson, buyer-at-large for the upscale retailer Anthropologie, invites viewers along on an international treasure hunt on the Sundance Channel original series, MAN SHOPS GLOBE. In out-of-the-way antique shops, private dealerships and craft stalls, Johnson looks for one-of-a-kind home furnishings and accessories that will reach consumers in Anthropologie outlets, or inspire the company's design and manufacturing team. In each half-hour program, Keith travels to a new country in search of fantastic and unusual decorative objects, furniture, and textiles. He also seeks out the world's best artists and crafts people. MAN SHOPS GLOBE follows Johnson, who travels six months of the year, to ends-of-the-earth excursions, from flea markets in Paris to remote villages in India and obscure art studios in Turkey.
I watched his first episode {if you are with Comcast, the premiere episode is available ON DEMAND} and I loved his ending quote " Whoever said you do not get a valid high from shopping has no idea what they are talking about." Since I cannot trot around the globe spending other people's money, I will be content to travel with Keith and I think you will be as well.
