Unfinished Upholstery.

I had, what felt like a moment of brilliance last night, but I want some feedback.

I bought these two chairs for my Smitten Sale. (They are still for sale if anyone is curious). I do not want to invest money to re-upholster them because 1.) I do not want to put more money into them. 2.) Someone else can pick out fabric that works with their home.

 I started thinking, what can I do, that is inexpensive, to update their look? Then I remembered seeing a slipcover that I think would work with drop cloth fabric. I like the tie attachment and the ruffle.

I love the unfinished nature of the chairs below. Do you like the irregularity of the nailheads and the incomplete look of these chairs? I think it might drive some people crazy and others might adore it. What do you think?

Smitten Sale Recap + Upcoming items for Sale.

Hi friends, I wanted to share a few pictures from the big sale last Thursday. I was so thrilled with the turnout. This was my first time hosting a sale and I had a dream [nightmare] that no one would show up and all my efforts would be a big waste. Luckily, that wasn't the case and friends came and shopped. There were even new friends [blog readers] that stopped by to shop. My mom gave me a hard time for posting my address on the world wide web, but I explained to her that home design blog readers are generally a harmless breed.

I worked up until the last minute and there are some details that I wanted to fluff, but here are some pictures I took before and after the sale. I was too busy chatting to be behind a camera.

I will be posting some of the items that did not sell via Big Cartel. Check back this week to see what's still available.

Have you seen the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas edition? I've browsed it a couple of times as I've been waiting in check out lines and to my delight, I see that I have a couple of chairs for sale that are quite similar to what is featured in their mag.

One of my favorite items for sale is a cowhide rug. I know if you've opened a design magazine in the past two years, you've seen the cowhides everywhere. They aren't for hunters + rednecks anymore. You would almost think if you didn't have one of these rugs in your house you would be as offensive as a girl who does not tuck her jeans into her boots. That was uncalled for. I don't have one in my house but if it doesn't sell, I have a little boy's room that needs one.

This colorway below is similar to what I am selling, except mine in branded and it's uniquely awesome. I think RL would be proud of your purchase.
