Fashion designer, Stella McCartney, makes me wish for a green thumb [or hired help with a green thumb]. Vogue featured a charming article on the country estate of Stella's family.
“We planted a million trees here,” she adds. “We’ve made another Eden.” The couple, who were married in 2003, were helped in this mission by their wedding guests, who were bidden to give trees in lieu of more conventional presents.
"People don’t build gardens like this anymore,” she adds, “and I can see why! They are ridiculously expensive. It’s insane. It’s literally like building a house. But a garden becomes another room, an escape. Being out in a beautiful garden is nicer than sitting in a beautiful room, in my opinion. They bring you so much joy. We recharge our batteries in that environment. You have to feel extremely privileged to have a garden—I don’t take it for granted."
This makes me believe my dream of planting hydrangea bushes is very attainable!

VERY pretty! I love Stella
I am obsessed with this space. I always tell kellen I am buying our next house because of its garden when ever that may be. Ours is not grand by any means it still cost a fortune.
gorgeous landscaping. such a peaceful spot.
so pretty and magical -- how inspiring it must be in all seasons.
A garden is a wonderful way to accent a home, and create an outdoor escape from the interior. I came across your post this afternoon while browsing interior design blogs and the topic of window treatment selection was very interesting to me. If you have a green room extending from your home, how could you incorporate window treatments to that room without ignoring the garden beyond it? It is true that you must dress your windows appropriately to bring out their true beauty.
