A before and after.

This summer I had the opportunity to help transform a house that has sat vacant for over 5 years. It was a monster of a project: a home just under 5,000 sq ft that is now being used as a scholarship home for girls.  Most items are from Home Depot, Home Decorators, Overstock, Ashley's furniture, Home Goods, Target and TJ Maxx.  Some items were custom (the bench that is featured below, colorful artwork to greet the girls when they enter the home and the ping pong table inspired by Urban Grace Interiors).
Paint was a heavy lifter in this project, as I used it to lighten up the original stained woodwork and trim. We modified the floor plan by taking down a bookshelf on the back of the kitchen to open the space up to the dining room.

I've been looking at buying those ikat wingback chairs, but the reviews all day they're incredibly stiff/firm. What did you think? love how this all turned out, btw!

they are a little tight back. They actually came with the wrong size legs as well, but they sent me a replacement pair. I wouldn't want them as main seating, but as accent seating or chairs that won't get a ton of use, they'd be fine.
