Texture is my Color.

Our guest room was the only room in our house I did not paint. The green walls were too vibrant and alive for my taste. I knew I would eventually repaint and decorate this room but it has been low on my priority list until recently.
I had the crazy idea that I would paint the room and sew 8 curtain panels. I am an amateur with the sewing machine. I only have one trick up my sleeve: ruffled pleats. I made linen panels in my dining room so I carried that same design over to the guest room.

The finished product

Come on in and see...

It's like a winter wonderland in here with all the white linen.

A few notes: The ottoman still needs a cover; I want to repaint the (chalkboard) frame sitting on top of my desk. Would a matte white be too boring? You should know I don't love living with a lot of color, I prefer muted palettes. If I could coin a phrase it would be "texture is my color". I even debate leaving the striped headboard in there...just a few unfinished pieces I'm still thinking through.

I like the yellow stripes! I say bring in a few more splashes of yellow!
Great job on sewing the curtains, you might inspire me to try my hand at it!

This looks outstanding and I don't think the white matte would be too boring at all...you're talking to someone whose entire house is pretty much white though. With the occasional splash of navy or grey.

What a great job you've done here. I could take a nap in that room right now. :)

Free Bird- I forgot to mention this is my favorite room in the house. It's the coolest and now the calmest- I like to read and nap here.

It looks beautiful! Love the paint choose with all the white, so yummy. The curtains are perfect too. I am already pensive about the fabric that I ordered for ellie's room. so much sewing to do on top of some I am already doing for a client, ahhh!

Wow!! It looks amazing!
I like the striped headboard, and I agree with free bird - I don't think a matte white would be boring on the frame at all. Of course, it's just paint and you can always change it again if you don't like it.

Looks great! And I'm off to read the pleated curtains tutorial now...

I love it!! I usually love color but I think that room is perfect - so serene. I think the striped headboard is great in there. I can't wait to attempt the curtains for my daughter's nursery!
